Arsenal Football Club, which is also nicknamed as the Gunners, is an English football club, which has its headquarters in the northern part of London, right in the heart of Holloway. Currently it is one of the most successful English clubs, which was 13 times a national champion and 12 times won the FA Cup. Also Arsenal Football Club is a club, which remains longest in the professional class in England – since 1919. The owner of Arsenal is a public limited company, Arsenal Holdings plc.

Traditional club colors are red and white. These colors have taken different shades during the history of the club. Arsenal also repeatedly changed its stadium. At the beginning it was in south-east London in Woolwich, since 1913 the team moved to the north of the city, to the Arsenal Stadium in Highbury. In 2006 the club moved to the Emirates Stadium, situated in Holloway. The total capacity of the stadium is 60 355 seats, making it the second largest object in the Premiership. Initially it was known as Ashburton Grove, but buying the rights to the name by Emirates airlines has resulted in the change to the Emirates Stadium.

The Arsenal Football Club was founded in 1886, so it is also one of the oldest football clubs in London. As the only one from the south of England in 1893 it joined The Football League. In the thirties Arsenal was a five-time national champion and has won two FA Cups. After the Second World War it have not achieved such success. It was not until the early seventies when it won the double – country championship and cup in the same season. Since the early nineties it took part in competitions FA Cup and four times was the champion of England. The 2003/2004 season deserves special attention, because Arsenal Football Club had no defeat and was the only team that made it. Then Arsenal got to the Champions League final, but lost to FC Barcelona. Also the Arsenal women's team is worth mentioning – is the most successful female football team in the country.

The Arsenal Football Club has a large and loyal group of supporters. Diehard supporters of Arsenal call themselves The Gooners. Many Arsenal fans come from outside London. The team's biggest rival is Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal matches with the club are referred as North London derby.

The manager longest running the club was George Allison, but the largest number of meetings holds the present coach Arsène Wenger – from 1996. Wenger is the only manager in history Arsenal Football Club who comes from outside the UK and Ireland. He is also the most effective manager.

Arsenal Football Club is one of the most valuable clubs in England. The estimated value in 2008 was more than 600 million pounds. Thanks to its reputation it appears regularly in the British media. In addition, Arsenal Football Club annually organizes at their stadium a pre-season Emirates Cup friendly tournament.
